Hemel-en-Aarde

Nestled at the foot of the seaside town of Hermanus, this breathtakingly beautiful valley is known for its iconic Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs, but get ready for a few surprises.  Home to some of South Africa’s most prestigeous wine estates.

The elegant, refined wines of this region are more “old-world” in style. The valley is demarcated into three appelations, each with its distinctive terroir and style, reaching from the cool Atlantic ocean and meandering inland between towering mountain peaks. The appelations are (starting from the bottom of the valley): Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge.

Embark on a cellar tasting with Anthony, owner of Hamilton Russell Vineyards. Taste a Pinot Noir from each of the appelations with Hannes of Storm Wines. Get to know the brothers from Newton Johnson Vineyards. Find out know why Kevin Grant adores Chardonnay while tasting at Ataraxia. Taste with owners of Creation, J.C and Carolyn Martin, whilst enjoying a superlative sensoral pairing experience.

These are just some of the people, wines and places we love in the valley. There are of course more. But we curate your day so that it's ideal to you. No two tours are the same.

We wont let you go hungry! We love eating at Spookfontein Restaurant, and The Restaurtant at Newton Johnson. For a farmhouse experience we enjoy Mogg's Country Kitchen. For a full food and wine pairing experience, Creation is our go-to.
